BIOGRAPHY

Qantas Socceroos

Explosive midfielder, who established himself in the tough Italian Serie A with Parma, Empoli and Palermo and is a regular starter for the side. He became Australia's highest-valued transferred player when he moved from Empoli to Parma.

In 2001 he burst onto international scene at the Confederations Cup in Korea/Japan and ever since has been one of the first players picked for the national team.

He scored the unforgettable goal against Uruguay in Sydney in November 2005 which ultimately led Australia to the 2006 World Cup. After World Cup transferred from Parma to ambitious Serie A club US Palermo. Scored a spectacular goal in the Asian Cup qualifier against Bahrain that clinched qualification for the finals in 2007.

Played a role in the successful qualification campaign for the 2010 World Cup.
